*Lymph nodes dissection is usually used to replace the scanning method

Cancer Staging

The staging of cancer varies to its sizes. Cancers stages are categorized in four major types, the early stage, locally advanced; metastatic and recurrent (stage 4 throat cancer).

*Early Stage

*Stage I – the cancer size is not more than two centimeters.

*Stage II- the cancer size is more than two centimeters and not more than four centimeters.

*Stage III- the cancer is considered early at this stage if it is small and the affected single lymph node can be removed and with high possibility to be cured.

*Locally Advance

*Stage III- the cancer is more than four centimeters or it could be at any size and already spread on the same side of the neck.

*Stage IV- the stage 4 throat cancer is already spread to tissues around the mouth and the lip. Stage IV throat cancer can be at any size and spread to both sides of the neck and measures more than six centimeters.

*Metastatic

*the cancer already spread throughout the distant sites.

*Recurrent

*the cancer is failed to response to primary treatment and has to be recurred after its complete response.

Treatments

The treatment for the throat cancer may vary upon the size, location and stage. Different treatment is available.

*Surgery

*Chemotherapy

*Radio Therapy

It can only be performed by the specialist. ENT surgeons and oncologist will be the attended personnel in the operation.
